I've known Greg O'Gallagher for about 4 years now. When I met him he was largely known for his Youtube videos showing crazy physical feats.
Here's a picture of him doing chin ups with 110 pounds added.
...and he doesn't swing and pull up just part way. He does 5 full controlled reps with 110 pounds. He weighs about 185. So he's pulling close to 300 pounds! I never see this type of chin up strength in my gym.
What is his secret?
He never trains 2 days in a row. There is always a full rest day in between training sessions. He emphasizes a fully recharged nervous system and because of that he is able to do each set with a high level of intensity.
He also believes in minimalism when it comes to exercises.
A brief summary of his workout program:
- 1 or 2 exercises per body part.
- Heaviest set first followed by 2 lighter sets (reverse pyramid).
- Exercise Mon, Wed, and Friday.
- 2 day split so 3-4 days rest in between each specific workout.
